WizKid Set To Release Debut Album In June

All indications point towards WizKid releasing his debut album on June 12th 2011. Very interesting date to pick . Wizkid has already become somewhat of a mega star even without an album yet.

Hits like "Tease Me", "Holla At Your Boy", and "Dont Dull" have catapulted the 20 year old star to mainstream Nigeria, and Africa. Add the numerous features and producers he has worked with, and you have to be excited about his upcoming album.

An album release party will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011.

Timaya made peace Ambassador

The music star was recently appointed a Peace Ambassador by the Inter-religious and International Federation of World Peace. The certificate given to Timaya says he was picked because he is "One of those individuals whose lives exemplify the ideal of living for the sake of others, and who dedicates themselves to practices which promote the founding ideals of IIFWP".

Happy Children's Day to my minor readers....

Wishing every Nigerian child a happy children's day celebration. Let's show some love to the little ones today especially the ones in the orphanage.

I joined my school's chapel charity "LCU Too" and we would be visiting about 4 different orphanages today.

Unfortunately for me I can't go with them because  am having a major test today. (Don't know why the lecturer picked children's day of all days for test). On the bright side I have made my contributions to the charity so while am writing the test I'll know for sure a child a feeling my impact somewhere today......

A day at the AMALA joint

Hmmm, nothing like eating Ibadan's amala since it's the people native food. So I decided to pop in to check it out for myself. Trust me it was a wonderful experience.

The NYSC is Here to Stay - President Goodluck Jonathan

As has become my habit, I took time to read your comments on this page and noticed that a number of you called for the proscription of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The deaths of members of the NYSC during the post-election violence is condemnable and we need to prevent a re-occurrence, but in doing that, there should be an awareness that the NYSC is a force for good and we must never sacrifice what is good for what is convenient for the moment. Leadership is about taking in the big picture.

The NYSC scheme was birthed by the Gowon administration as a means of enhancing Nigeria's unity by making Nigeria's youths spend a period of sacrificial living in parts of the country outside the immediate location in which they were raised. And this scheme is to a large extent achieving its purpose.

We need more of anything that will build unity in Nigeria and it is not possible to build unity without unifying vehicles. The NYSC like the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air force and Police are unifying vehicles.

These vehicles serve their purpose because they endure trying times seeing as the core value behind their creation is sacrifice. And just as we recognize fallen heroes of the Armed Forces on Remembrance Day, we will never forget our fallen heroic Youth Corpers.  The five million Naira compensation to their families will not bring them back but it is a gesture to show that we mourn with them. We will do all that is humanly possible to bring justice to their killers. However, in doing this, we must retain the scheme and IMPROVE on it so that it becomes a living memorial to the sacrifice of Nigeria's youth to the growth, progress and unity of our nation. GEJ

Gay Nigerian, Chika Nwafor Visits Nigeria With German Husband

Chika Nwafor is the gay Nigerian dude who flaunted his relationship with a German lawyer a few years back. He has since married his partner, Mark Schwartz. Chika and Mark who met via the internet came back to Nigeria recently to meet Chika's family.

He tells Stella Dimoko-Korkus ''Yes I brought him home as nwa afor, I wanted him to eat bitter leaf soup and some native things and also walk along the bush side and go to the stream with me. Well my family love and accept me so why should they not accept the hapiness of my life. Please I need to go back and rest in my matrimonial home now, thank you Stella.''.

Chika and his husband plan to adopt a German baby soon.
