A Survey of Nigeria's Growing Middle-Class

This is basically a survey of middle-class Nigerians I found on HowWeMadeItInAfrica.com which states that they earn between N900,000 ($5,760) to N1.2M ($7,680) per year. The findings are really fascinating. Check it out;

A recent survey by Renaissance Capital of the booming Nigerian middle-class delivered some interesting results.

Renaissance’s findings are summarised below:

The survey was conducted with 1,004 middle-class Nigerians, with an average monthly income of between N75,000 and N100,000 (US$480 and $645). Participants were drawn from the cities of Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. 70% of respondents were aged 40 and younger.

Education and work: 92% of middle-class Nigerians surveyed have a post-secondary education or have studied at higher institutions of learning. 99% have one or more members of their household in full- or part-time work. The majority (76%) work in the public sector, while 22% work in the private sector. About half of the middle-class population are skilled professionals in paid employment, while 38% are entrepreneurs. Only 2% are employed in other forms of work or are part of a NGO.

ASA's Album Hits No.3 on world Billboard music Charts

ASA’s new album “Beautiful Imperfection” has just hit the #3 position on Billboard’s World Music Chart for the week of October 1st, 2011. The week’s top-selling world music albums is ranked by official sales data as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and then published by Billboard.

“Beautiful Imperfection” debuted at #5 on the charts last week. This is only its 2nd week and it’s already#3. Who’s to say it won’t get to #1? Only time will tell. But for now, this is something all Nigerian music lovers and Nigerians in general should be proud of. The world is beginning to hear us! Big congrats to ASA...

M.I signs on Jesse Jagz baby mama, Ruby

Ruby, real name, Ngohide Rubyann Gyanggyan, is the beautiful and very talented new artist under M.I's Loopy Record Label, which is a subsidiary of Chocolate City. The rap king signed the afro soul singer who is from Benue State to his label some weeks back and her debut single Okay is already out and getting great reviews. You can listen to it here.

Jesse Jagz and I dated. We were in the same choir in Jos in 2002. We have a child together. Her name is Jade and she's six years old.Though the two have since broken up, but Ruby insists they are still best of friends and work together.

Sanusi Wins Sub-Saharan Africa Central Bank Governor of the Year

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been announced winner of the 2011 Central Bank Governor of the Year Award for Sub-Saharan Africa for the second consecutive year, by the international magazine Emerging Markets.

The Emerging Markets Awards, an annual event alongside the IMF/World Bank annual meetings, was held in Washington D.C. and attended by Central Bank Governors, Finance Ministers and Bank Chief Executive Officers from across Latin America, Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Billionaire Boyfriend Gift's Naomi Campbell Private Island with 25 bedroom House

Naomi Campbell's married Russian billionaire boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin, just gifted the supermodel with a Private Island and built a mansion on it for her in the shape of the Egyptian Eye of Horus.

According to reports, the commissioned architect was given an unlimited budget to create one of the most unique celebrity green homes ever built. Green features include: photovoltaic panels, geothermal heating, and a rainwater harvesting system. Combined with a state-of-the-art geothermal system that provides all of the energy this 25 bedroom home (complete with five lounges) could possibly need.Inside the house is a landscaped terrace, from which it is possible to take in the incredible views.

Computer Warehouse Limited Hosts Staff to T.G.I.F

Last Friday the 23rd of September CWL Systems hosted members of staff to her quarterly T.G.I.F. (Thank God It's Friday) to celebrate her staff and allow staff unwind from stress.

New Video: Olamide ft. Wizkid - Omo To Shan

After watching this video, I think it has just won an award for the "dumbest/stupidest" video so far. From the intro of the video with Wizkid and the producer bragging about a UK/US tour that would never come to light to olamide arrivalling on an okada, to the whole hospital concept of the video. 

There was no proper coordination between Olamide's part and wizkid's part. Looks like a cheap video to me. they could have done better. Would be really disappointed if this video ever get's a nomination of any kind.

Cobhams Asuquo and wife expecting first baby

They got married in 2010 and are said to be expecting their first child. Big congrats to them.
