Longtime Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi has been killed, interim Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril said Thursday.
The confirmation came after hours of conflicting reports about the former leader's status.
Gadhafi's son, Mutassim, and his chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, were also killed, according to Anees al-Sharif, a spokesman for the Tripoli military council.
Revolutionary fighters attacked the house where Gadhafi was hiding, Information Minister Mahmoud Shammam told CNN. Gadhafi was shot while trying to flee, he said.
"Colonel Gadhafi is history," he said.
