The inaugural flight of another United States‘ carrier, United Airlines, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 7pm on Monday.
The 11-hour flight from Washington DC made the United Airlines the second American carrier to operate scheduled flight into Nigeria.
Delta Airlines had in December 2008 started scheduled flight into Nigeria.
The flight had on board dignitaries from the US, including Nigeria‘s Ambassador to US, Mr. Adebowale Adefuye.
The special flight was received by US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Stafford; Nigeria‘s Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze; Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren; and the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, among others.
Speaking at a brief reception, the minister said that the new flight would boost the trade relations between the US and Nigeria.
