You must resolve not to be discouraged even when things are going tough.. Many have thrown in the towel – they gave up at the most painful time in their pursuit of destiny forgetting that travail preceeds triumph and that without pain their is no pleasure.
Thomas Edison said and I quote, "Many of life's failures are peolpe who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." So, don't quit.
You are close to your goal. It is always too early to quit. Ross Perot, the American Billonaire and one time independent presidential candidate once said " Most people give up just when they are about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown". In the end the pain of quitting is more than the price of moving forward while the pain lasts.
Dr Robert Gilbert gave the story of a group of skiers, who camped on a skiing site, and went all at once to ski. John, one of the skiers, wanted to try a steep slope so he asked the group, " Does anyone want to ski down the slope?" The entire group refused; but fearless as he was, John went down the slope on his own.
An hour later as he skied, he fell through a crack and wounded his arm. His blood froze around his arm. He needed to get back. So he walked when he couldn't ski, and crawled when he couldn't walk.
Every move forward was painful. He wanted to give up. But he kept at it. After seventeen miles of painful crawling, he gave up. His body froze and, minutes later, he died. Next day, the storm had passed. Skiers woke up and one step from the camp they found a body. It was John's.
Stick to the fight even when the going gets tough. At times, one more move is what makes the difference between success and failure. Believe and you see the glory of God. If you think you can, then you can.
William Shakespeare said " Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we often might win, by fearing to attempt". Everything in life is hard before it becomes easy. Yet life will remain hard if we fail to move beyond the rough beginning. Until you plough your field you don't plant your seed. Don't be afraid of tough beginning. It's only the initial impression.
Napoleon Hill once said " Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit" It is when things get tough and you don't quit that success come. In the book Inspire the sleeping giant within, a story was told of a man that met a guru on the road. The man asks the guru " Which way is success? The bearded sage speaks not but points to a distant direction. The man thrilled by the prospect of quick and easy success, rushes in the direction the man pointed to. Suddenly, there comes a loud " Splat!!!" Eventually, the man limps back, tattered and stunned, assumming he must have misinterpreted the message. He repeats the question to the guru, who again points silently in the same direction. The man obediently walks off once more. This time the splat is deafening, and when the man crawls back, he was bloody, broken, tattered, and irate. " I asked you which way is success" he screamed at the guru. " I followed the direction you indicated, and all I got was splatted! . No more of this pointing thing. Talk!"
Then the guru spoke and said " Success is that way. just a little after the splat."
